Teen Mom 2 cast member Leah Messer is facing a police investigation after reports emerged that she repeatedly failed to provide her disabled daughter with a wheelchair at school, with the situation allegedly reaching a point where the child was unable to evacuate her classroom during a fire drill.
The investigation was triggered by a tip from one of the children’s teachers, according to reports. Messer’s daughter Ali, who shares with her twin sister Aleeah, suffers from a rare form of muscular dystrophy that prevents her from moving around independently. Complaints have been raised that her mother has not consistently met her special needs requirements, including the wheelchair, and that Messer has also been repeatedly late collecting both girls from school.
The development adds to a turbulent period for the reality television personality, who is also at the centre of reports surrounding an alleged sexual encounter with her first ex-husband Corey Simms. According to In Touch Weekly, the two were said to have hooked up in the back of Simms’ truck in their West Virginia hometown during what was supposed to be a meeting to discuss arrangements for their twin daughters.
The alleged incident has caused significant fallout locally, with Radar Online reporting that news spread quickly through their social circle, eventually forcing Simms to disclose the situation to his current wife Miranda, who is said to be pregnant. The circumstances have been described by those close to the couple as extremely difficult for all involved.
Messer and Simms share a complicated history. Their first marriage ended after Messer was unfaithful, and the pair subsequently went through a prolonged and bitter custody dispute that was documented throughout the MTV series. Simms had previously made public statements expressing concern about Messer’s wellbeing, including claims relating to prescription medication use.
Messer has since divorced her second husband Jeremy Calvert and is currently single, while Simms remains married to Miranda.
