Microsoft has introduced a new feature to Skype that allows users to search and send short clips from well-known films and television shows directly within their conversations, giving people a new way to respond when words alone fall short.
The feature, called Mojis, gives Skype users access to a searchable database of memorable moments drawn from titles including Jurassic Park, Bridesmaids, Pitch Perfect and Despicable Me, with the library built through partnerships with major entertainment providers including Universal Studios, the BBC and The Muppets franchise.
Microsoft described the collaboration as an effort to bring the funniest, most recognisable and most iconic moments from popular culture into everyday messaging, allowing users to let a favourite film or television clip speak on their behalf rather than typing a response.
The Muppets partnership is among the more prominent additions, with dedicated Moji content from the beloved characters now available within the platform. Some Mojis are also based on established characters already familiar to users of Microsoft’s Messenger service.
The move follows a broader trend among messaging platforms to expand beyond text and standard emoji, with video clips and animated content increasingly used as a form of digital expression in everyday conversation.
