Delilah Peterson, an 11-year-old girl killed in a crash in Adelaide’s south, has been remembered by her family as “smart, loving, curious and full of life”. A fundraising appeal has been launched to help with funeral costs after the collision at Moana.
Delilah was travelling as a passenger in a Nissan sedan with her mother, Sarah, 35, when it collided with a Subaru station wagon on Commercial Road at about 6.45pm on Tuesday.
Delilah died at the scene, while her mother was taken to hospital in a critical condition. The 37-year-old Seaford Meadows man driving the Subaru was treated for minor injuries and later discharged.
Finlay Thompson set up the GoFundMe appeal on behalf of Delilah’s family.
“Our hearts are broken as we come together to ask for support for our beautiful 11-year-old girl, Delilah, who was tragically taken from us far too soon,” Ms Thompson said.
“Delilah was a truly special little girl. She was extremely smart, loving, curious and full of life. She loved so much about the world around her and had so many dreams and things she wanted to experience in life.”
Ms Thompson said Delilah had been loved by her family and community, adding: “Her beautiful parents, Sarah and Kyle, love their precious daughter more than words could ever explain.”
“Their hearts, along with the hearts of everyone who loved Delilah, are shattered,” she said.
Delilah was also remembered by Destineey Ansell, who said on social media: “She was only 11 and so sweet. She was so young she didn’t deserve to die, she didn’t have much of a life.”
“I wanted to see her grow old, wanted to see her make lots of friends. I’ll forever miss her, she was such a good person,” Ms Ansell said.
