Aaron Rowe has defended Ed Sheeran after quitting the singer’s tour, urging fans not to direct their anger at Sheeran following Macklemore’s departure.
Rowe addressed the controversy in an Instagram post, saying attention should instead be focused on Robert Kraft, who owns the Patriots, and other NFL owners who supported the decision to sever ties with Macklemore.
“All I keep hearing is Ed Sheeran this, Ed Sheeran that. When you really should be focusing on the likes of Robert Kraft,” Rowe wrote.
The opening act, who left Ed Sheeran’s tour earlier this week, said he believed Macklemore should not have been removed and described the decision as a mistake made out of panic.
“I haven’t had a chance to f***ing talk to Ed too much, but I fully believe he knows that was a mistake,” he added.
The fallout has also seen Sheeran’s entire opening-act line-up, including Rowe, leave the tour. Resale ticket prices for his upcoming show in Philadelphia have fallen, while pro-Palestinian groups are due to protest outside Saturday’s performance at Lincoln Financial Field.
