Move United’s USA Wheelchair Football League is holding a three-day tournament at WestWorld of Scottsdale in Arizona, bringing six teams together for competition from 11 to 13 September.
The event features the Arizona Cardinals wheelchair football team, alongside teams representing the Los Angeles Rams, Las Vegas Raiders, Buffalo Bills, Cleveland Browns and Carolina.
The tournament is being staged in partnership with Ability360 and the Abilities Expo, which is taking place at the Scottsdale venue. The expo offers information and resources for people with disabilities and their families.
A free “Learn to Play” clinic was held on Friday, giving adults who can use a manual sports chair the chance to try wheelchair football through skills sessions, drills and games.
Match play continues across the weekend, with the tournament’s championship game scheduled for midday on Sunday. The event is open to the public at no charge.
The USA Wheelchair Football League, a programme run by Move United, provides competitive opportunities for adult athletes with disabilities, including veterans. Its season includes tournaments staged in different US cities.
