Anthropic chief executive Dario Amodei has called on rival artificial intelligence companies to agree to the use of third-party evaluators as part of a push for stronger safety safeguards.
In an interview, Mr Amodei urged the AI industry to work together in pursuit of measures designed to assess and improve the safety of increasingly advanced systems.
His proposal would involve independent evaluators examining AI models rather than leaving each company to assess its own safeguards.
The appeal comes as competition between AI developers intensifies, alongside growing calls for the industry to establish common standards for safety and oversight.
