Arsenal have agreed terms to sign France international defender Elisa de Almeida from Paris St-Germain in a move expected to be completed before Thursday’s transfer deadline.
The fee is understood to be about £550,000, according to reports in France, with the 28-year-old set to move to north London after five seasons in Paris.
De Almeida is able to operate at centre-back and right-back, offering Renée Slegers’ side valuable defensive cover as they begin the campaign with injuries in the back line.
She is expected to make her final appearance for PSG in Wednesday’s Women’s Champions League qualifier against Eintracht Frankfurt before travelling to England. She remains under contract with the French club until 2027. De Almeida has made more than 100 appearances for PSG and helped the club win two Coupe de France titles. She previously played for Paris FC and Montpellier, having spent her entire club career in France.
The defender has won 52 caps for France and was included in the squads for the 2023 Women’s World Cup and Euro 2025.
Arsenal are aiming to reclaim the Women’s Super League title for the first time since 2019 and have strengthened their squad this summer, with Georgia Stanway and Ona Batlle among the arrivals.
Slegers’ team begin their league campaign away to Brighton on Sunday, 6 September, with kick-off scheduled for noon BST.
