Emily Atack’s wedding reception in Mojacar, Spain, turned into a champagne-fuelled celebration, with the actress and her husband Alistair Gardner pouring bottles over a tower of coupe glasses before guests took over the dancefloor.
The couple married in the courtyard of a 16th-century church in front of 197 friends and family, following an earlier UK ceremony in Bedfordshire last month. Atack had promised a “big, fat, f***-off party” – and the evening featured dancing, a first-dance lift and plenty of fizz.
Among those attending were several of Atack’s co-stars from the Disney+ series The Rivals, including David Tennant, Alex Hassell, Rufus Jones, Bella Maclean and Victoria Smurfit.
Stanley Tucci and his wife, executive producer Felicity Blunt, were also at the reception. In one playful photograph, Tucci appeared to place his hand on Blunt’s chest as they posed with other members of the wedding party.
Guests gathered around as Atack and Gardner began their first dance, with the scientist lifting his bride around the waist and spinning her around.
The wedding party travelled to the reception on a coach bearing illuminated lettering reading “Emily & Alistair”. Laura Whitmore and Iain Stirling were also among those pictured at the celebration.
Atack, 36, arrived at the ceremony with her chief bridesmaid and wore an off-the-shoulder ivory gown, lace veil and long train. She and her sister Martha travelled to the church in a Cadillac.
Her father, pop star Keith Atack, 67, walked her down the aisle wearing flip-flops. Guests had reportedly waited almost two hours at the drinks reception before the bride arrived.
David Eagle, a comedian and folk musician who wrote material performed on The Emily Atack Show, acted as registrar. During the ceremony, he acknowledged the couple’s previous wedding, telling guests: “I expect some of you in here are experiencing some Deja vu.”
Afterwards, Atack and Gardner walked through a shower of rose petals before leading a champagne toast and mingling with their guests.
The three-course meal included cod risotto or mandarin sorbet to start, followed by shredded suckling pig with pumpkin compote and roasted apples. Dessert was mango mousse with nougat ice cream and raspberry coulis, with rum and coffee served afterwards.
Each table was named after the word “Love” in a different language, including German, Scottish Gaelic, Hawaiian, Greek, Swahili, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, Indonesian, Fijian and Pilipino.
The Rivals writer Dominic Treadwell-Collins was also present. Aidan Turner and Danny Dyer were among the show’s cast members not pictured at the wedding.
Atack’s former Inbetweeners co-stars were also absent. The sitcom was announced last week as returning for a third film, although it remained unclear whether Atack would reprise her role as Charlotte Hinchcliffe.
