Fashion executives Bryan Walker and Michelle Min have been identified as the husband and wife found shot dead outside their home in the Oakland Hills near Berkeley, California.
The couple were discovered on the 400 block of Panoramic Way shortly after a neighbour reported hearing gunshots at about 10.45am on Friday. Police and emergency crews attempted life-saving measures, but both were pronounced dead at the scene.
Walker and Min were the co-founders of Bryn Walker, a Berkeley-based women’s clothing company established in 1991. The brand operates retail shops and supplies clothing to boutiques across the United States.
Oakland police are leading the investigation, with Berkeley officers also responding because the hillside neighbourhood lies close to the border between the two cities and near the University of California, Berkeley campus.
A firearm was recovered at the scene. Police have said they are not searching for anyone else and that there is no ongoing threat to the public, while investigators have not ruled out the possibility of a murder-suicide.
The victims were initially described only as a man and a woman in their 60s who lived at the property. Authorities have not disclosed a possible motive, and no arrests have been announced.
Friends and neighbours gathered near the home over the weekend, leaving flowers and cards at a makeshift memorial for the couple.
