Chicago rapper BloodHound Q50 was killed in a shooting involving six masked gunmen at a petrol station in the city’s Fuller Park neighbourhood, police said.
Q50, whose real name was Mikquale T. Cooper, was 22. He was behind the wheel of a white Tesla at a BP station at about 4am on Sunday when the attack took place.
Police said a black Infiniti carrying two masked people pulled up beside the Tesla, while a silver Honda Accord with four occupants arrived at another pump.
Q50 and a 29-year-old woman passenger went inside the station. One of the masked individuals then allegedly went to the Honda and retrieved objects from inside the vehicle.
The woman later moved the Tesla to the entrance of the station and allowed Q50 to take the driver’s seat. Authorities said the six suspects then approached the vehicle and opened fire.
Q50 was struck in the chest and shoulder. Chicago Fire Department personnel attended the scene, but he was pronounced dead at about 4.35am, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
The gunmen allegedly fled in the Infiniti and the Honda. Police said buildings and other vehicles were also damaged by the gunfire.
No arrests had been made and the investigation was ongoing.
