An 11-year-old boy shot in the face and neck inside an apartment in north-west Sydney has died after spending days on life support.
Emergency services were called to the Moda apartment complex on Fairway Drive, Norwest, at about 5pm on Monday, where they found the child critically injured. He was treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
New South Wales Police confirmed on Thursday that the boy had died.
Five other people were inside the apartment at the time of the shooting, but none was injured, police said.
Three 18-year-old men were arrested in connection with the incident. One has been charged with concealing a serious indictable offence, while the other two were released pending further inquiries.
The boy’s family said on Wednesday that the shooting had been a tragic accident. They also said he had been looking forward to the school holidays.
Police are continuing to investigate and are searching for the gun used in the shooting.
Tributes posted online described the child as a “little young soul” and an “angel”, with messages of condolence sent to his family.
