Brittany Hockley has revealed she hesitated to share her pregnancy announcement photos because she felt she did not look pregnant enough.
The Australian reality television star and her husband, professional footballer Ben Siegrist, announced earlier this month that they are expecting their first child.
Hockley, 38, had initially been concerned that the photos from the couple’s announcement shoot did not show a noticeable bump. She said she had even tried eating foods that made her feel bloated in the hope of creating “some movement down there”.
“And for that reason I didn’t feel I could post them… like weirdly I wasn’t allowed to without showing?” she wrote.
She ultimately shared the images, posing with Siegrist and their dog, Delilah, and said she had come to understand that pregnancies and baby bumps develop differently.
“And the little squidlet is definitely in there growing and if it’s anything like its dad it’s going to make itself known very soon!” Hockley said.
She added: “But I love the pics and Delilah’s smile is everything! So here they are!”
Hockley, who became known after reaching the final of the sixth season of The Bachelor with Nick Cummins, has previously spoken publicly about her fertility journey on social media and through her podcast, Life Uncut.
Speaking on The Morning Show in July, she said she wanted to discuss her experience to help challenge the shame some women feel when they struggle to conceive.
Hockley said she had assumed becoming pregnant would be easy, but described her IVF journey as challenging. Even after embryos had been created, she said there was further uncertainty over whether they would successfully implant.
“Like it’s something that it’s broken inside of us … but there shouldn’t be shame,” she said.
Hockley married Siegrist in June 2025. The couple have been living in Italy since earlier this year, while Hockley travels to Sydney for work.
