A 17-year-old boy has been charged over the alleged stabbing of another teenager in a public toilet block at Beaman Park in Earlwood, Sydney.
Police allege the 17-year-old victim was attacked on the evening of September 18 before fleeing the park with serious injuries. About 5.45pm, emergency services were called to Flinders Road following reports of an assault.
Officers found the boy with stab wounds to his upper body. NSW Ambulance paramedics treated him at the scene before taking him to hospital in a serious but stable condition.
Police established a crime scene at the park’s amenities block and began investigating. Detectives arrested another 17-year-old at Burwood Police Station a week later.
The teenager has been charged with causing wounding or grievous bodily harm to a person with intent to murder. He was refused bail and is due to appear before a children’s court on Saturday.
The injured boy is believed to have run from the park before collapsing outside a nearby home and asking for help.
Earlwood resident Julie said he was covered in blood when he reached her doorstep.
“He was covered in blood and we couldn’t really see where it was coming from,” she said.
“He was so scared. I just wanted to calm him down and make sure he knew he was safe now.”
Julie said the teenager had suffered wounds to his neck, back and shoulder.
“It’ll probably hit us in the next couple of days,” she said. “It’s not something you ever imagine seeing in your life.”
