A four-year-old child has died after a house fire in Woodstock in the New South Wales Central West.
Emergency services were called to the property on Waugoola Road, about 22km north-east of Cowra, at 3pm on Saturday following reports of a blaze.
A woman and two children escaped the house, but the four-year-old remained trapped inside. Firefighters later found the child’s body after extinguishing the fire.
The woman was taken to Cowra Hospital in a stable condition after suffering smoke inhalation.
A crime scene has been established while police investigate the circumstances surrounding the fire.
“A report will be prepared for the information of the coroner,” police said in a statement.
