Police in DeKalb County, Georgia, have seized 735lb of marijuana and nine firearms after intercepting a shipment from California, authorities said.
The DeKalb County Police Department’s High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Task Force stopped the delivery before it could be distributed, then searched the site where it was due to arrive.
Investigators recovered five rifles and four handguns during the operation, which was announced on Friday, 18 September.
“Keeping drugs and guns out of DeKalb County,” the department said in a social media statement. It added that its investigators were working to keep local communities safe.
Police have not identified any suspects or disclosed whether arrests have been made. No details have been released about the delivery address, the estimated value of the seizure or possible charges.
The investigation remains ongoing, and officials said further information would be provided as it becomes available.
