Parents preparing children for the new school year have been urged to make sure their health checks are up to date, restore regular routines and keep screen time under control.
Dr Tiffany Binno, a paediatrician at Henry Ford Health in Detroit, shared the back-to-school checklist as autumn classes begin.
She advised families to re-establish consistent daily schedules before lessons resume, helping children adjust to earlier mornings, set bedtimes and the demands of the school day.
Limiting time spent on phones, tablets, computers and television was also highlighted as an important part of the transition. Reducing screen use can help children settle into healthier routines as their holiday timetable comes to an end.
Dr Binno is a board-certified paediatrician who sees patients at Henry Ford Pediatrics in Royal Oak and Sterling Heights. Her clinical approach focuses on children’s general wellbeing and disease prevention, including healthy lifestyles and vaccinations.
