Cody Gakpo’s superb Liverpool form has created a selection dilemma for manager Andoni Iraola, according to former Reds midfielder Jamie Redknapp.
The Netherlands international appeared to have an uncertain future at Anfield during the summer, when Manchester City and Tottenham were both linked with a move for the 27-year-old.
Gakpo ultimately remained at Liverpool and has made an impressive start to the campaign. He scored again on Tuesday night, helping his side secure a 3-1 Carabao Cup third-round victory over Tottenham.

Redknapp has praised the winger’s performances and suggested his form could complicate Iraola’s plans after Liverpool spent heavily to sign Bradley Barcola during the summer.
Gakpo and Barcola can operate in the same Liverpool side, although both are primarily left-wingers. Gakpo has also played on the right and as a striker, giving Iraola further options when deciding how to use him.
His goal against Tottenham underlined his threat from the left, with Gakpo cutting inside before finishing with his right foot.
It remains to be seen whether Gakpo’s role will change as the season develops, or whether Barcola will be asked to operate in a different position. For now, Liverpool appear to have a positive problem, with Gakpo showing signs of returning to his best after a dip in form last season.
