Claudia Winkleman’s unusual outfit became the unlikely talking point of Thursday night’s Celebrity Traitors, as fans compared the presenter’s winter look to Star Wars character Chewbacca.
Winkleman, 54, was overseeing the ‘death parade’ mission in the Scottish Highlands, in which the celebrities had to evade a group of masked and cloaked figures to win £8,000 for the prize fund. The contestants succeeded, although viewers appeared equally focused on the host’s ensemble.
She wore a full-length chocolate-brown shaggy fur coat with an enormous black Russian-style fur hat. The presenter completed the outfit with her trademark £1,080 Bottega boots.
As the BBC star directed the challenge, viewers took to X to comment on her appearance. One wrote: “Claudia coming in her best Chewbacca outfit.”
Another said: “How can anyone take this task seriously when Claudia is literally dressed like a yeti?” A further viewer remarked: “Claudia’s headwear game is strong.”
Winkleman’s outfit also included a £475 Johnstons of Elgin grey tank sweater and a £470 Thierry Colson puff-sleeve blouse. She wore loafers priced at £845 during another part of the programme.
Rob Beckett’s Celebrity Traitors exit
The episode also revealed that comedian Rob Beckett had been murdered face-to-face by Traitors Maya Jama, James Acaster and Hannah Fry during a game of hide and seek.
Beckett discovered his fate while hiding in the crypt. James Acaster told him: “Rob Beckett you have been murdered,” prompting the comedian to laugh and reply: “Thank you very much James Acaster.”
Beckett said his departure was “good news for the Faithfuls” because he had been “nowhere near getting Maya and James”. He added: “If I know one thing my boy Romesh will avenge my death and he will get them.”
Romesh Ranganathan later said he felt he had “let Rob Beckett down”, describing him as one of his best friends and admitting that the show would not be the same without him.
Winkleman responded to Beckett’s exit with a joke, saying: “You could say Beckett has kicked the bucket,” while admitting it had taken her 45 minutes to come up with it.
