A Maryland father has been charged with murder over the death of his 13-month-old son, Kyro Strachan, in Temple Hills, Prince George’s County.
Alwin Strachan, 26, is facing charges of second-degree murder, manslaughter and child abuse resulting in death, according to the Prince George’s County Police Department.
Officers were called to a home in the 3200 block of Curtis Drive at about 11.15pm on 18 September, where they found the child unresponsive and not breathing. Life-saving efforts were carried out before Kyro was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner found that the boy had died from blunt force trauma. His death was classified as a homicide.
Police said Strachan told homicide detectives during an interview that he had been involved in injuring the child, resulting in his death. He is being held by the Department of Corrections.
