A fire near Perimeter Mall in Dunwoody sent a huge plume of black smoke over the Atlanta area on Wednesday, 2 September, before firefighters brought the flames under control. One employee was injured and taken to hospital, according to local fire officials.
The blaze broke out outside a restaurant at the shopping centre, with firefighters preventing it from spreading into the building.
Officials said the fire started in a pile of rubbish behind The Cheesecake Factory. Other reports indicated that the flames may have been near the P.F. Chang’s restaurant, although the precise location was not immediately confirmed.
A substantial fire department presence remained at Perimeter Mall after the flames were extinguished as crews checked the area and investigated the incident.
