A 33-year-old woman has been arrested after a man was fatally stabbed and a woman was injured during an alleged dispute at a home in Marion County, Florida.
Amy Hogg is accused of attacking the pair at a property on West Highway 318 near Reddick in the early hours of Saturday, September 19, according to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies were called to the address at about 3.15am and found the male victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. Emergency aid was provided, but he died at the scene. His name has not been released.
The female victim was also found with stab wounds and was treated by emergency responders.
Woman arrested over Marion County stabbing
Investigators were told that Hogg, described as a family friend, had arrived to stay with the couple the previous evening. The group later drank alcohol before an argument broke out between Hogg and the woman, deputies said.
The dispute allegedly became physical when Hogg pushed the woman. The male resident intervened and separated them, but the woman later heard Hogg and the man shouting at one another.
She called 911 and found the man bleeding on the floor and gasping for air, according to investigators. Deputies said Hogg allegedly stabbed him repeatedly before the woman managed to disarm her.
Hogg was taken to hospital after being arrested. She faces charges of second-degree murder and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon.
She remains in custody at the hospital without bond and is due to be transferred to Marion County Jail once medically cleared, officials said. The homicide investigation is being led by the sheriff’s office Major Crimes unit.
