Four-year-old Jayde Wooten has died after being found upside down in a water-filled bin containing fish, with authorities in Bibb County investigating the circumstances.
Jayde’s father told a deputy he had just returned home and could not find her in her bedroom. He said he woke the girl’s mother, who told him she had fallen asleep while Jayde was eating in the kitchen.
According to an account reported by WGXA, the father said he was searching “frantically” when he heard Jayde’s mother scream.
He said he ran back inside and found Jayde in a bathroom, upside down in a bin that had been filled with water and fish.
The father carried her outside, where neighbours attempted to perform CPR. Jayde was then taken to a local medical facility, where she was pronounced dead.
The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office said it was investigating the death.
A GoFundMe appeal has been created to help Jayde’s parents with funeral costs and support them as they grieve.
