Google has increased the price of its Google TV Streamer from $99.99 to $149.99 in the US, adding $50 to the cost of the company’s 2024 streaming device.
The new price is already listed on the Google Store and at Best Buy. Amazon and some other retailers were still offering the device at its previous price on Monday afternoon, although those prices may change as existing stock is replaced.
Google has not publicly explained the increase. The change is thought to be linked to higher memory component costs, with the Google TV Streamer featuring 4GB of RAM and 32GB of storage.
The device had also been discounted by $20 during holiday sales, making the new list price a notable increase for consumers considering Google’s alternative to streaming boxes from Roku, Amazon and Apple.
The price change comes alongside increases for several Nest cameras. Google’s recently launched Google Home Speaker remains priced at $99.99, suggesting its cost may already have accounted for higher component prices when it went on sale in June.
