A 29-year-old man from St Paul has been arrested after a handgun was fired during a struggle with police in downtown Mankato, Minnesota. No injuries were reported.
Officers were called to the 500 block of South Front Street at about 12.30am on Sunday following reports that two people were fighting, according to the City of Mankato.
Police saw that one of those involved was carrying a handgun. The man ran from the scene and officers pursued him before catching up with him nearby.
A struggle broke out as officers attempted to arrest him, during which the handgun was fired. Authorities have not said who discharged the weapon or whether anyone was targeted.
The suspect was taken into custody and transported to hospital as a precaution. Details about what led to the initial fight have not been released.
Charging documents were not yet available on Sunday morning.
