Alvaro Arbeloa reportedly has two matches to save his job as Fulham manager after his side’s latest defeat increased the pressure on the Spaniard.
Fulham surrendered a lead to lose 2-1 to Ipswich following the international break, conceding twice late in the match. The result has intensified scrutiny of Arbeloa after an uncertain start to his tenure.
Fulham target four points from next two matches
TeamTalk reports that Fulham’s hierarchy wants a minimum of four points from the club’s next two fixtures, against newly promoted Hull City and Coventry.
“Sources have told TEAMtalk that the hierarchy are looking for a minimum of four points from those two matches, with failure to reach that target potentially carrying serious consequences for the Spaniard,” the report said.
The target gives Arbeloa a chance to steady the situation, with both fixtures described as winnable. However, the pressure is immediate, with Hull due to visit Fulham on Saturday.
A defeat in that match could leave Arbeloa’s position in further doubt before the meeting with Coventry. Fulham have shown signs of promise, but their late collapse against Ipswich has left the manager needing a response.
