Real Madrid and Barcelona are monitoring Liverpool midfielder Florian Wirtz as doubts grow over his long-term future at Anfield.
Reports from Spain claim the two La Liga giants are among four leading European clubs keeping track of the Germany international. Chelsea and Bayern Munich are also understood to be interested in the 23-year-old.
Real Madrid and Barcelona track Liverpool midfielder
Wirtz joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen in the summer of 2025 in a deal worth more than €100 million. Despite concerns over his form, Liverpool are not currently seeking to sell a player they regarded as a major investment.
The attacking midfielder produced five goals and eight assists during his first season in English football. His displays at the beginning of the 2026/27 campaign, however, have done little to quiet criticism, while his reported market value has fallen.
Those developments could give potential suitors encouragement, although no formal offer has been confirmed and a transfer remains far from certain.
Chelsea may hold an advantage if the race develops, with manager Xabi Alonso having previously worked with Wirtz at Leverkusen. The pair were part of the side that won the Bundesliga title in 2024.
Bayern Munich have also admired Wirtz for some time and could consider another attempt to bring the German playmaker back to his home country.
Liverpool remain in control of the situation, with Wirtz under contract until June 2030. The key question is whether he can rediscover his best form at Anfield before Real Madrid, Barcelona, Chelsea or Bayern Munich decide whether to make a serious move in 2027.
