A man was arrested on suspicion of DUI after his car crashed into a pedestrian crosswalk in Redmond, Washington, police said.
Officers were called to a single-vehicle collision at the junction of 148th Avenue NE and NE 87th Street at about 6.30pm on Thursday, August 27.
Redmond Police Department said officers noticed signs of impairment when they spoke to the driver. His blood alcohol concentration was allegedly more than twice the legal limit.
Images released by police showed damage underneath the vehicle, which appeared to have driven over a central reservation. A pedestrian crossing sign was also lying on the ground.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, and police did not report any injuries.
“Please make a plan before you drink,” the department said. “If you’ve been drinking or using any substance that impairs your ability to drive, don’t get behind the wheel.”
Police urged people to use a rideshare service, contact a sober friend or find another safe way home rather than driving while impaired.
