A 42-year-old man was shot in the chest in Seattle’s Rainier Beach neighbourhood on Wednesday evening, with police searching for a suspect who fled in a vehicle.
Officers were called to the area near 42nd Avenue South and Martin Luther King Jr Way South at about 6.30pm on 23 September after residents reported hearing gunfire.
Police found the injured man at the scene. Seattle Fire Department medics treated him before he was taken to Harborview Medical Center in a stable condition.
Investigators believe the victim was shot by someone inside a vehicle, although the circumstances leading up to the attack remain under investigation.
The suspect was not found. Detectives searched the area for video footage and other evidence as part of the inquiry, which is being led by the Seattle Police Department’s Gun Violence Reduction Unit.
