Cole Palmer’s Manchester United links continue to circulate despite the Chelsea forward withdrawing from another England camp to concentrate on injury recovery and rehabilitation.
Palmer has travelled abroad with a Chelsea physio during the international break, using the three-week period to work on his fitness ahead of the next stage of the season.
The attacker has been troubled by persistent niggling injuries in recent years. After featuring for almost every minute of Chelsea’s Premier League campaign so far, the break offered an opportunity to rest and complete a personalised rehabilitation programme.
Thomas Tuchel had indicated that Palmer would miss another England gathering because of fitness concerns. His absence has nevertheless done little to quieten speculation over a possible move to Manchester United.
Cole Palmer must prioritise consistency at Chelsea
Transfer expert Dean Jones said Palmer’s immediate priority was to establish himself consistently for both club and country rather than consider a transfer.
“There is a determination from the player to prove himself in every sense this season, both for Chelsea and England. He has always retained complete confidence in his own ability and is focused on staying fit enough to demonstrate his quality consistently,” Jones wrote.
A move to Manchester United has not been ruled out, but Palmer’s focus is currently on regaining full fitness and producing a sustained run of form for Chelsea.
He made a promising start to the season, but that followed an extended period in which his performances had been below his earlier levels. The priority now is to maintain that improvement over a longer spell before turning attention to England or any potential change of club.
