Manchester United have signed 16-year-old Isaac Konde from Liverpool in a move designed to strengthen their academy ranks.
The teenager has committed his future to United after leaving Anfield, with the two Premier League clubs discussing compensation for the highly rated prospect.
Isaac Konde joins Manchester United
Konde is understood to have agreed a one-year scholarship at Old Trafford, followed by a five-year professional contract. The compensation package could eventually reach seven figures, underlining Liverpool’s valuation of the youngster.
He joined Liverpool in 2018 and progressed through the club’s youth system. Last season, Konde made six appearances for the Under-18 side and provided one assist.
The winger has attracted attention for his pace, direct running and ability to pose problems for defenders. Although primarily deployed on the wing, he has also been used in midfield and as a forward during his development.
Konde is expected to join Darren Fletcher’s Under-18 team once the transfer has been formally cleared.
The move forms part of Manchester United’s wider recruitment of promising teenagers from rival academies. The club have also brought in David Eze from Manchester City and other highly rated young players this summer.
United will hope Konde can continue his progress within their academy and eventually develop into a first-team option.
