A man was shot on a Houston METRO bus during a struggle over a weapon on Friday afternoon, with a woman taken into custody, police said.
The incident happened at about 4.15pm in the 3600 block of Westheimer Road, near Timmons Street in the Upper Kirby area, after reports of a fight on the bus.
A traffic enforcement officer working nearby was alerted by members of the public and went to the scene with Houston METRO officials. Officers found a man with a gunshot wound to one finger.
The injured man was taken to hospital in a stable condition. His injuries were described as non-life-threatening.
Investigators believe a weapon was produced during the altercation before the man and a woman fought over it. Police have not established who initially displayed the weapon.
The woman, who is believed to be the suspected shooter, was detained. The weapon was recovered, and METRO said the pair appeared to know one another.
Houston police said there was no continuing danger to the public. The investigation has been taken over by Houston METRO, while the ages of the man and woman have not been released.
