Google has agreed a multi-year partnership with YouTube star MrBeast to promote its Gemini artificial intelligence assistant and Google Health, beginning with an extreme survival challenge across three of the world’s harshest environments.
MrBeast, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, and his crew will race through a jungle, desert and the Arctic in a video due to be published on his YouTube channel on 5 September.
Google said Gemini would be used during the challenge to help the teams identify dangers, respond to severe changes in weather and navigate the different environments.
The agreement will also extend beyond MrBeast’s own channel. Donaldson will appear in a Gemini advertising campaign demonstrating how he uses the app to develop and organise the large-scale stunts for which his videos are known.
Google said the creator would also show how its health and fitness products can support everyday wellbeing. Fitbit Air is set to feature in a separate upcoming MrBeast challenge, although the company has not disclosed further details about that production.
Donaldson became the first creator to reach 500 million YouTube subscribers, according to Google, giving the technology company access to one of the platform’s largest global audiences.
The Google MrBeast partnership follows a series of commercial collaborations between the creator and technology brands. Samsung, for example, worked with the MrBeast channel in 2023 to showcase Galaxy phones for video-making.
