Celtic and Rangers supporters will be barred from attending away fixtures between the two clubs for the remainder of the 2026/27 season, following an agreement reached with the Scottish Professional Football League.
The decision means there will be no visiting fans at the Premier Sports Cup tie between Rangers and Celtic at Ibrox on 13 September, or at the William Hill Premiership meeting at Celtic Park seven days later.
The clubs had previously agreed to provide away allocations equivalent to 5 per cent of the available capacity at their stadiums. That arrangement was reconsidered after disorder during the Scottish Gas Men’s Scottish Cup quarter-final at Ibrox on 8 March.
The Scottish FA subsequently commissioned an independent review into the events surrounding the match. The latest ticketing decision follows discussions involving Celtic, Rangers, the SPFL and Police Scotland.
In a statement, the SPFL said: “After further discussions involving both clubs and the SPFL, agreement has been reached that there will be no away supporters for matches involving Rangers and Celtic in SPFL competitions for the remainder of the 2026/27 season.”
The move is intended to give the clubs, police and other organisations involved in staging the fixtures time to consider the review’s findings and recommendations, while allowing future matches to be planned with greater certainty.
The SPFL said safety and security would remain the priority and confirmed that the arrangement could be reviewed if circumstances materially changed during the season.
Ticketing arrangements for Old Firm matches beyond the current campaign will be considered ahead of the 2027/28 season.
