A soldier from the US Army’s 1st Cavalry Division has died and another has been injured in a vehicle rollover during a training exercise at Fort Hood in Texas.
The incident happened on Monday, 14 September, at the base near Killeen, military officials said. The injured service member is receiving medical treatment, although no further details about their condition have been released.
The identity of the soldier who died is being withheld while relatives are notified. Officials said the name will not be made public until at least 24 hours after the completion of next-of-kin notifications.
Brig Gen Ethan Diven, acting commanding general of the 1st Cavalry Division, said the unit was “deeply saddened” by the loss and was supporting the soldier’s family, loved ones and colleagues.
The circumstances of the crash are under investigation. Military authorities said further information would be released when it becomes available.
