Google is rolling out “Battery usage summaries” to Pixel 10 and Pixel 11 devices, giving users a plain-English explanation of how their phone’s battery has been used.
The feature appears at the top of the Battery usage page and is delivered through an update to Google’s AI Core system component. It reviews recent battery activity, identifies the apps using the most power and highlights unusually heavy consumption.
Google says the summaries also monitor activity taking place in the background and compare overall and app-specific battery use with the user’s recent average. The resulting overview is designed to provide a quick explanation rather than simply display percentages and charts.
The company’s support information says the feature is switched on by default on compatible Pixel phones. Users can disable it by going to Settings, then Battery & charging, Battery usage and the overflow menu, where they will find the Battery usage summaries option.
Google warns that the wording will differ from one device and usage pattern to another, with the system highlighting only what it considers the most important information. A summary could therefore focus on an unusually power-hungry app, background activity or a period in which the phone was used less than usual.
The rollout does not appear to be uniform across the Pixel range. The feature has been seen on the Pixel 11 Pro Fold and Pixel 11 Pro XL, while tests on updated Pixel 10 and Pixel 10a handsets have not yet shown the new option.
Google’s support page confirms that the latest AI Core update is required, although it has not specified whether other software or regional requirements apply. The staged availability means some owners may need to wait for the feature to arrive even after updating their phone.
