Google has confirmed a software fix is being developed for a Pixel 11 Pro static audio bug that causes bursts of interference in videos recorded with the phone’s Video Boost feature.
The issue has been reported by a growing number of users, who say recordings can contain loud static every few seconds. Demonstration footage posted on Reddit shows the noise interrupting the soundtrack, with the effect resembling a Bluetooth connection repeatedly dropping out.
Google said it had identified the cause and would release a correction through an update to the Google Camera app “in the coming weeks”. The company also said an upcoming monthly Android update would include further performance improvements.
Pixel 11 Pro Video Boost problem
Video Boost is available on Google’s Pro models and uses cloud processing to improve footage after it has been recorded. The feature, introduced with the Pixel 8 Pro in 2023, uploads video to Google’s servers so that additional processing can be applied before the enhanced version is returned to the user.
On affected Pixel 11 Pro phones, the processing appears to be linked to the audio interference. The problem has been reported specifically when Video Boost is being used, rather than as a general fault with all recordings.
Some users have said that clearing the Google Camera app’s cache or switching off Audio Zoom may temporarily reduce or remove the static. These steps are not a permanent solution, however, and Google’s planned Camera app update is expected to address the underlying problem.
