A NSW police officer has been killed in a car crash in Redfern, Sydney, after a fully marked police vehicle collided with a tree.
The vehicle was travelling along Gibbons Street at about 1.30am on Friday with its lights and sirens activated, according to NSW Police.
A female constable, who was a passenger in the car, died at the scene. Her identity has not yet been released.
The male constable driving the vehicle was treated by paramedics before being taken to Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in a stable condition.
A crime scene has been established and the crash has been declared a critical incident.
