Two children and a 21-year-old woman were taken to hospital after reports that a fairground ride malfunctioned at Maltby Crags Fair in Rotherham.
Emergency services attended the event on Friday evening after injuries were reported. South Yorkshire Police said the two young people, aged 11 and 13, and the woman were injured while on a ride and taken to hospital for treatment.
At least six police cars were pictured at the scene, while the air ambulance was also understood to have been called.
A local resident claimed on social media that one car had come off the ride’s track and collided with another. She also said several people had fallen from the ride and that at least two boys had been injured. The account has not been independently confirmed.
Police said the fairground was closed for the evening following the incident. Blyth Lane, between Muglet Lane and Victoria Road, was temporarily shut to allow people to leave safely before later reopening.
Maltby Crags Funfair, presented by J Holmes & Sons, has been operating in Maltby since Wednesday September 9. It was due to open throughout the weekend from 5pm to 9pm, although it is not known whether it will reopen.
Police have not identified which ride was involved.
