A one-year-old child has died in hospital five days after allegedly being stabbed by their mother inside a car in the Blue Mountains, bringing the number of children who have died in the attack to two.
The child was taken to hospital after the alleged incident on Sunday afternoon and died on Thursday. Their five-year-old sibling was pronounced dead at the scene, while a three-year-old sibling remains in hospital fighting for life.
The children’s 42-year-old mother was charged on Tuesday with murdering her five-year-old son, along with two counts of intending to murder and causing grievous bodily harm to the siblings aged one and three.
She will now face an additional murder charge following the death of the youngest child.
The woman is due to appear at Penrith Local Court on November 20.
