South Park season 29 will air as a six-episode run, with new instalments released fortnightly from Wednesday September 16 until the scheduled finale on November 25.
The Comedy Central animated series returns at 10pm ET/PT, with each episode airing every other Wednesday at the same time. Episodes will also be available to stream on Paramount+ the following day in the United States, Canada and Australia.
South Park season 29 episode schedule
The opening episode, titled “South American Biker Gangs”, will be followed by episodes on September 30, October 14, October 28 and November 11. The sixth and final episode is scheduled for November 25.
The premiere centres on the arrival of e-bikes in the town. Its official synopsis says: “When e-bikes arrive in South America, the boys take over the streets and the parents of South America can hardly recognize South America.”
The unusual reference to South America is part of a temporary rebrand announced by creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone ahead of the new series.
The name change was presented as a joke about President Donald Trump renaming Lake Ontario as Lake America, after which Apple and Google updated their maps in the United States to reflect the new name.
“Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google, we are changing the name of South Park to SOUTH AMERICA,” Parker and Stone said.
They also made a joke about the programme’s parent company, adding: “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation.” The South America name will carry into the season 29 premiere.
How to watch the new South Park episodes
Viewers with cable can watch the new episodes live on Comedy Central. Those without a traditional television package can access the channel through live-TV streaming services including YouTube TV, Hulu + Live TV, Sling TV and DirecTV.
Episodes will be released on Paramount+ the following day for viewers who do not need to watch live.
South Park first aired in 1997 and is due to mark its 30th anniversary in 2027. Parker and Stone remain executive producers.
