SwitchBot has unveiled a retrofit smart lock for European homes that can be opened in up to 19 ways, including fingerprint scans, passcodes, NFC cards and facial or palm-vein recognition.
The Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo was announced at IFA and is designed to work with existing door locks rather than requiring a complete replacement. It combines the new Lock Ultra Max with the Keypad Vision Pro and a Hub Mini Matter.
The package is priced at £339.99 or €339.99, which SwitchBot says is about $395. The price is higher than the $249.99 Lock Ultra Vision introduced by the company last year.
Alongside biometric and keypad entry, users can unlock the door remotely or through the SwitchBot app, voice controls, a smartwatch or a phone widget. The system is intended to support multiple users, allowing access to be shared without issuing traditional keys.
SwitchBot says the Lock Ultra Max is compatible with 99 per cent of European locks. Supported designs include common EU profile cylinders, knob cylinders, Swiss round cylinders and UK oval cylinders, while additional adapters are available for less common installations.
The new model has a more powerful motor than the existing Lock Ultra, delivering more than 9kg of turning force and rotating at up to 160rpm. SwitchBot says that makes it 3.2 times faster than its predecessor.
