Tampa Bay is set for several more days of hot sunshine before humidity peaks and a cold front brings a greater chance of showers across Florida at the weekend.
Temperatures are expected to climb into the upper 80s Fahrenheit across the region on Wednesday, with largely dry conditions and plenty of sunshine. The heat will be accompanied by gradually increasing humidity.
Cold front to cross Florida at the weekend
Scattered showers could return from Thursday and continue intermittently through Friday and the weekend, although the daily chance of rain is expected to remain relatively low at between 20% and 40%.
Forecasters expect humidity to reach its highest levels late in the week before the approaching front moves across Florida. As it passes, dew points should fall, bringing noticeably drier air to the Tampa Bay area.
The change will follow a spell of warm weather, with Wednesday afternoon forecast to be sunny and temperatures reaching about 89F.
Despite the shift in conditions, the Atlantic tropical outlook remains quiet. The National Hurricane Center said tropical cyclone formation was not expected in the Atlantic, Caribbean Sea or Gulf of America over the following seven days.
