The Walking Dead: Dead City season four has not yet been commissioned by AMC, although the creative team behind the spin-off is already discussing possible directions for another series.
The third season, starring Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan and Lauren Cohan as Maggie, concluded on Sunday September 13 with an episode titled “Tenebrae”. In the finale, Maggie and Negan fought walkers while attempting to rescue their community, including Luis, from their enemies.

Cohan, who also serves as an executive producer, said there were already ideas being considered for a potential fourth season.
“We have a lot of ideas that are outside the box for another season,” she told People, adding that the team wanted to develop stories capable of surprising both her and Morgan.
The actor said she believed there were still many stories to tell involving Maggie. She described the possibilities as “endless”, provided the writing remained strong and the characters continued to develop.
Showrunner Seth Hoffman has also discussed what a fourth season could explore, including further links with the wider Walking Dead universe.
Scott Gimple, AMC’s chief content officer, has separately addressed the future of the franchise and said there would be more Walking Dead series, although their rollout would be slower.
He added that he was actively planning and hoping for a fourth season of Dead City. AMC has not, however, confirmed that the series will return.
The wider franchise is also set to continue with The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, which has already been confirmed for a fourth and final season debuting in 2027.
