Three teenagers have been arrested after a police officer was hit by an allegedly stolen car in Ashwood, south-east Melbourne, and thrown several metres through the air.
Police were tracking a black Mercedes-Benz SUV when it was found in Gubbah Court at about 2.15am on Saturday. Officers moved in as the vehicle allegedly left the court and mounted the footpath.
The car allegedly struck a female constable, who was propelled several metres along the road. Police said she was taken to hospital with minor injuries and was “lucky to escape serious injury”.
The Mercedes allegedly fled the scene before hitting a fence at the corner of Jordan Street and Salisbury Road.
The police Air Wing was deployed and three teenagers, aged 15, 16 and 17, were later located and arrested. No charges have been laid.
Police allege the car was stolen during a home invasion in Cranbourne East about 30 minutes before the incident in Ashwood.
Detectives are continuing to investigate and are searching for two other alleged offenders who were believed to have been at the scene before fleeing.
Anyone who witnessed the incident or has footage is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
