Three people have been killed and three others critically injured in a head-on crash on State Highway 105 in Washington County, Texas.
The collision happened shortly after 5.30pm on Thursday, October 8, near the Brazos River and the Washington-Grimes county line, south-west of Navasota.
Texas Department of Public Safety troopers said a Chevrolet Equinox was travelling eastbound when it attempted to pass in a no-passing zone. It then collided with a westbound Chevrolet Impala.
The Impala’s driver and passenger died at the scene, along with a passenger who was travelling in the rear of the Equinox, officials said.
The Equinox’s driver, front-seat passenger and another rear passenger were flown to Memorial Hermann hospital in critical condition.
Authorities said they did not believe intoxication was a factor in the crash. The victims’ ages and identities had not been released.
State Highway 105 was closed in both directions while emergency crews and investigators worked at the scene, with officials warning that the closure was expected to continue for an extended period.
