Samantha Armytage’s return to Australia’s Today show has failed to deliver the ratings boost Channel Nine may have been hoping for, amid continuing uncertainty over the programme’s presenting line-up.
Armytage stepped back into the hosting chair after Sylvia Jeffreys’ stint on the breakfast programme, as Nine continues to assess potential replacements for former co-host Karl Stefanovic and Sarah Abo, who is on maternity leave.
The veteran broadcaster is no stranger to early-morning television, having previously hosted Seven’s Sunrise before joining Nine as the presenter of The Golden Bachelor Australia.
Her latest appearance has nevertheless done little to alter Today’s position in the competitive breakfast television market, with rival Sunrise continuing to attract the larger audience.
