Tom Cruise has revealed that Taylor Swift talked him through the finer points of football when they attended a Kansas City Chiefs game together.
The actor joined Swift, Travis Kelce’s family and friends in a private suite during the Chiefs’ game against the Denver Broncos in Kansas City, Missouri, on Monday September 14.
Speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on Thursday, Cruise said Swift had been “schooling” him on the sport.
“She was schooling me on football,” he said. “For real. Like, she was bringing the football. First of all, she’s a genius. I’ve been following her since she was a kid.”
Cruise said Swift had not known much about football before meeting Kelce, but added: “Now she knows.”
The pair also discussed subjects away from the game, including music and films. Cruise described Swift as funny, a brilliant writer and someone with “such a great sense of humor”.
Reflecting on the occasion, he said: “Everybody there, all their friends, they’re beautiful couple, you know, and magical in their own right. And everybody there in that booth.”
Cruise added that he had not attended a football game since before the Covid pandemic because of his work commitments, saying it was “a lot” to spend time with the group.
The actor is currently promoting his new film, Digger.
