Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly interested in Freiburg attacking midfielder Yuito Suzuki, but the Bundesliga club are understood to be seeking up to €45 million for the Japan international.
Spurs are said to be among the leading contenders for the 24-year-old, with AC Milan also exploring a possible move. Real Sociedad are reportedly monitoring his progress as competition for his signature increases.
Tottenham face €45m hurdle for Yuito Suzuki
Freiburg are believed to value Suzuki at between €40m and €45m and have no intention of allowing an important attacking player to leave midway through the campaign.
The German club are in a strong negotiating position because Suzuki’s contract reportedly contains no active release clause. Freiburg would therefore be able to set their own terms if a formal offer is made.
Tottenham and Milan are understood to be considering proposals worth around €35m, including performance-related bonuses. That figure would fall short of Freiburg’s reported valuation and could force interested clubs to increase their offers.
Suzuki has impressed since joining Freiburg from Brondby and has established himself as one of the club’s most promising attacking players. His technical ability, creativity and versatility have attracted interest from several European sides.
He can operate as an attacking midfielder, second striker or on either flank, offering Tottenham manager Roberto De Zerbi greater flexibility in the final third. His movement and ability to find space in crowded areas are also viewed as potential assets.
Spurs are seeking to strengthen their attacking options ahead of the January transfer window, with Suzuki’s ability to contribute goals and influence matches from different positions making him an appealing target. His future is expected to remain closely watched as the transfer competition develops.
