An 11-year-old girl has been charged after a woman was allegedly dragged from a bus and assaulted during a robbery in Townsville, Queensland.
Police allege the woman was boarding a bus near the intersection of Flinders Lane and Fraley Lane shortly before 7.35pm on Tuesday when two 11-year-old children pulled her from behind.
She fell on to the concrete platform and was allegedly assaulted while on the ground, with property then stolen.
The woman suffered lacerations and head injuries. Emergency services treated her at the scene before taking her home.
Police arrested one of the girls a short time later. She has been charged with robbery in company using personal violence, and bail was refused.
She is due to appear in Townsville Children’s Court on Wednesday.
The second 11-year-old was also arrested and will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
Investigations into the alleged robbery remain ongoing.
