A 63-year-old man from Meriwether County, Georgia, has been arrested and charged with child molestation after investigators alleged that he inappropriately touched a young relative in neighbouring Troup County.
Terry Prestridge was taken into custody at his home on 17 September by detectives from the Troup County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
Authorities said the alleged victim was a family member aged under 13 and that the incident took place at a location in Troup County.
The case was initially reported to the Meriwether County Sheriff’s Office. It was later transferred to Troup County after officials established that the alleged offence had occurred within its jurisdiction.
Prestridge was taken to jail following his arrest. The sheriff’s office has not released further information, saying the investigation remains ongoing.
